This weekend was a buy-1-get-1-free sale on back issues at the local comic store.

As luck would have it, last weekend I purged my DVD collection and got a $70 credit at the store.

You can imagine where this has led.

We’re dropping Zip to 1 unit of insulin once a day, to see how he does! Hopefully he continues to improve and we can stop the insulin altogether <3 The doctor’s surprised it’s happening so quickly, but he’s seen it before so he’s as excited as we are hehe <3

Also, my cat gave us a scare tonight. He’s been safely on his insulin for, what.. almost a year now? But tonight it was like he was back to square 1. Or worse. His head was lolling around, he didn’t have any balance, he wasn’t coherent, etc.

Luckily for me, I used to work at the vet clinic and left on good terms so I still have the vet’s cell phone number. After some discussion he had us throw a few mL of dextrose down his throat.

If what’s happening is what he thinks might be happening, we may be able to lower his dosage from 3 units BID. That’d be awesome because, y’know. Uses up the insulin slower. If it is actually getting better and keeps getting better, we may end up being able to take him off of the insulin completely.

I did some calculating and I’m going to have to earn a lot of money this year, and possibly without a job.

• replacement Mac (before I leave education prices) $1100 by March
• costs for table/trip to Nashville Comicon ~$600 by Sept
• costs for table/trip to St. Louis Comicon ~$600 by Feb

The iron artist challenge has helped me a great deal in earning large amounts I needed in the past, and I’m thinking about doing, like. Something similar again but with 100 $10 sketches/flats. Or 200. Or whatever. I just need to do a lot of commissions between now and next year. Would anyone be interested in those? $10 background-less, loose-lined drawings of your characters? They’d probably be exactly the same as the designs I’ve been doing lately. No shading, no bg, etc.

Turns out I can drive to all these conventions instead of fly to them, and I may be sharing a table with Julie again for both the Wizardworld ones! Gahhh, so perfect!

I get so excited when planning for conventions, you guys. It’s not even funny. They’re like six and eleven months away and I’m already stoked.
